Henning around

A dear friend is getting married in May. Yester-day and night was hen time for this occasion, and we ladies (and a couple of guys) spent a lovely pampering afternoon, mouth-watering evening, and relaxing night together. I left about midnight, though, cos my dear hubs flew off this morning for the US.

I only see some of these friends at weddings =b Because, admittedly, I don’t know them (except Dawn & Yann) very well. So it’s always a bit of ‘getting to know you again’ at first, heh, but then they’re so easy to talk to, and I really enjoyed the company. :) Had some very interesting conversations too, about God and religion and worldviews and sexual identity – over buttermilk chicken! More on that later… some pics first!

We booked two single suites at the Citadines Apartments (near Plaza Sing), for the night. Blindfolded our hen and brought her there, and made her sit/lie on the bed while we decorated the place up before she could take off the blindfold! Haha!!! Good sport lah, Dawn, and she did everything without a fuss. This after just recovering from food poisoning the day before! *pat pat*

Finally unveiled the poor hen, and proceeded on to Pink Parlour @Liang Court for our girlie afternoon of pampering! I did the Hydraspa-Pedicure, which was pretty good. Hot pink sparkly toesies for me! The rest chose either that, back massage, sea-salt scrub or oxygen facial. Heh, but I like my deal – cos we got to watch Shoppaholica while getting our nails done!! :D

Then it was to the supermarket to get whatever else we needed for the dinner cookout and then back to the apartment for COOKING!! :) So fun!

I shuttled between the kitchenette and the bed – one to do my bit of cooking, and one to chat.

After our bountiful dinner of buttermilk chicken, japanese salad, home-made pumpkin soup, crackers and fruit cheese and salmon spread, red wine and sparkling juice (juice for Dawn and me), we were fully stuffed and satisfied by the food and conversation. (There was a Man-U vs Chelsea match going on at the time, so there were sporadic bursts of expletives and cheers by the enthusiasts among us – and rolling of eyes by those not interested in football like moi)

Proceeded to watch the ‘library’ of DVDs various ones had brought! First up was (500) Days of Summer, which I lurve… and then Beauty and the Beast! By which time my peach cobbler had been heated up for dessert and it was past midnight, so it was home sweet home for me!

Like I said earlier, what was the most unexpected part of the night was the conversation a few of us had about religion. I realized how much I believe by faith, and how little I’m able to verbalize it in a real conversation. And how easy it is for me to censor myself so much in such a conversation just because I don’t know how to express what I think, or whether it’s the right time. It was discouraging in some senses, but encouraging too, because I felt glad that I could even be in such a conversation :) Yeah anyway… we’ll see…

Dawn, dear, just one more month to go to your very Special Day!!! We love you lots, and we’re with you all the way! :)
